Bangalow Colour Works

There are years of experimentation behind the business that is now Bangalow Colour Works
because unlike most other materials there is very little information written about the use of resins.

I started making resin jewellery from the small back yard of a terrace house in Sydney, but lack of space inhibited
any serious development of ideas. So it wasn't until a few years later when I moved to a farm in Bangalow with a large
work space and a lot more free time that I could continue experimenting with resins, moulding materials and various
sanding and polishing techniques to produce a limited range of transparent resin homewares and jewellery
for sale to the general public.

Resin can be a difficult material to work with, it is a plastic but unlike other plastics it's not cold and brittle
and cannot be melted down with heat, the sanding and polishing that I use to finish each piece gives it a
satiny tactile feel and the colours a beautiful translucent vibrant sheen. all items are hand finished
therefore each piece is unique.

The local Bangalow and Byron markets
were obvious locations to start my business as it gave me a chance to show my full range of products
and the feed back from selling directly to the public has been invaluable. With no overheads or mark up from
shops I can sell each item at wholesale prices.

The range is constantly evolving and expanding as I introduce new items of both jewellery and homewares to the range each month.
Experimentation will always be a large part of the process as new ideas are worked and new
designs produced keeping the stall fresh and interesting.
